Windows Secrets (and Other Keys to Geekness)
Sometimes I’m asked to disclose my sources. Like, where does that high-tech insight come from? How do I troubleshoot all the nuances of all that GTD software?
While some geeks like to let everyone think they’re a lot smarter than they really are, that’s not me. Ask away.
Here are three quick tips to put you on the path to ultimate geekhood:
1) Use Google first. It’s a great resource! The informati0n of the world is at your fingertips. Ya gotta know how to search effectively, though. If you see an error message, search for it in quotation marks. Search for terms that are likely to be unique to your situation, like error codes. That narrows it down fast.
2) Experts Exchange Secret Back Door. Did you find the answer on a site called Experts Exchange? (See www.experts-exchange.com.) Not a paying member? Do not despair. You can see the full answer if you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page! Try it. Search for this on Google:

Now click the link to the Experts Exchange article. Ignore the part obout paying to see answers for seven days, and scroll all the way to the bottom. Voila!!
3) Subscribe (free) to Windows Secrets. (See windowssecrets.com.) This is a great newsletter of cutting-edge information. Even the non-paid content is well worth it.
