Switching Tools

I am considering using Toodledo as my new tasklist, but would like to see how your training applies to Remember the Milk before committing to this training plan. Can you please explicitly tell me how much of the training I can proceed with before I can no longer change my tool set?

Android, Outlook, Toodle I am lost

I am trying to get my GTD system back up and going again. Was using Blackberry with Outlook direct usb link. This system was working but Blackberry lockup issues I desided to go with an android phone. Now I am really in a funk. I have no idea what to choose and use. Been trying Toodledo and sync it to Outlook. I am confused by all the folders and stuff. Joined Pricacta today hoping to unconfuse but I feel in same shape. I used David Allens setup on the Blackberry with Outlook and that was a pretty good system. Hope you all have a simple set up too. I beleive in the "Keep it simple stupid" methodology.

Tool to choose when using Outlook 2010 (on PC), iPad 2 and iPhone 4 ?

Hi,

I have
search the forum, but have not been able to decide which task management tool
to choose, would highly appreciate some help here so I can get going with the
training :)

I have
installed Appigo ToDo on iPhone and iPad, but would be happy to change this if
it turns out it is not ideal for me. I read in a post from August 2010
(http://www.priacta.com/forum/discussion/902) that the recommendation then was
Appigo ToDo (for non-Exchange) or IMExchange (for Exchange Server accounts).
Not sure if this is still a valid?

Here is my
setup:

- I work
only from one computer (laptop) with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010, 80% sure that
we are using Exchange 2010.

- I have an
iPhone 4 and an iPad 2 which I must be able to have synchronized at all time
with Task Management sw. Both units will most of the time be on either wifi or
3G. I use the iPad a lot to take notes in meeting, writing down task etc.

IE9 Crashes with TROG bar installed

I'm currently testing out the TROG toolbar, on a Win7 laptop, with Office 2010, and IE9.

IE9 has started mysteriously crashing...and the windows event log is pointing to a problem with AppBarHook.DLL - which is a priacta file. Can someone from Priacta take a look? I can't use this TROG bar, if IE is going to crash multiple times a day.

Trog bar placement for multiple screens

I use 4 screens on the same computer, occupying about 120 degrees of vision, moving things easily all the way across. Having only the ability to have Trog show up as a bar on the far right or far left of my screen setup doesn't work well for me, is there a way to have TROG show up as a scalable object like all the rest of my programs located anywhere on one of my screens I desire? I would prefer to place it on one of my center screens. Is this possible?

Why does the online training put me back at the same place every time I log in? (resolved)

I've just started doing the sessions. I worked my way up to and through the part where the online training asks you to list 10 stressors. I've since gone quite a ways past this but when I log in I'm back at this same page. Is my progress not being recorded or perhaps I'm failing to complete some aspect of the online interface. I'm simply pressing the 'continue' buttons and following the material. Twice now, back at 'list your 10 stressors' page.

Outlook 2007 task lists

For example, what combination of category, due date, priority causes a task to appear in a particular task list such as "Weekly Review" or "Do Today"

Managing a large number of tasks with TROG bar

I'm new to the TROG bar system and am struggling in one area. I manage several groups and have to juggle a large number of tasks (100-200 at a time, not including "Someday" tasks). The TROG bar approach requires you to enter dates for the tasks to be processed, but with so many tasks I find myself really struggling to make the system work--urgent tasks are easy to schedule as the dates are near, but I don't know what an appropriate date is for many tasks that need to be done but have more flexible timeframes for completion, including important but not urgent tasks. In my old system (just using Outlook tasks, with categories for Today, Tomorrow, Next 7 Days, and Next 30 Days) I could give myself a relative sense of timing and drag and drop to establish a priority order for tasks within each category without scheduling dates except for tasks with firm deadlines. With TROG bar, I find myself having to guess a lot--can I get to this task in two weeks, or will it take 4 weeks before I can start this? If the task is less important than another task that I've already scheduled, then I have to wonder when I scheduled that other task so that the tasks will appear in the correct order. My job is pretty fluid and many tasks shift in importance over time, so in my old system I could just drag and drop to reflect updated priorities and visually see the new priority list, but with TROG bar it appears that I need to go in and change the dates to change the TaskSense order, which doesn't give me the same visual context and takes far more time. It may be that in my situation the TROG bar just isn't the right tool for me, but I want to make sure that I am understanding the workflow and thinking about this the right way. Any advice?

Hide strategic calendar in TrogBar calendar view?

I have a strategic calendar and a main (conventional) calendar configured in Outlook. Is there a way to hide the strategic calendar entries from the TrogBar calendar view?

I understand that the strategic calendar is needed to drive the context of the task view... but the calendar view itself would be a lot less cluttered if I could see only actual appointments from the main calendar.

Task tool to use w/Google Apps, Outlook and Android phone?

I just discovered (and purchased) TRO, and need help finding a task tool. My current setup is using Outlook on my desktop and laptops, synchronized via Google Apps (gmail, gcal, etc.), and a just purchased an Android phone (I previously was using a hosted Exchange server w/my old Blackberry phone). I have been using Evernote for my tasks (and Ecco and Zoot before that), but Evernote is not ideal.

The task tool, ideally, would meet the following constraints:

*Automatically synchronizes between my PC desktops, Android phone and Mac laptop (so I can read/edit from any location)
*Be able to work offline (e.g. on a plane, or if the network is down)
*Work well for managing dozens of projects and prioritizing hundreds of tasks thru GTD and the TRO system (which I haven't learned yet)
*If it needs to integrate with a calendar, integrate with my Outlook/GMail calendar (which are synced together)

The TROG tool looks good, but it doesn't appear that it will synchronize across Google Apps (which doesn't synch tasks!). I also saw ToodleDo recommended, but it doesn't appear to have a 'desktop' version to use offline. Another recommendation I saw for integration via the Outlook/Gmail calendar is Taskline, but I don't think the app itself will run on a Mac or Android, and I don't know if it's compatible with TRO.

Any suggestions??

GTD/TRO hierachical project management with critical path?

I am looking for a database solution to my GTD project lists with hierarchical tree functionality, sort & priorities, status, load (estimated durations), capacity output features with space for Outcome Envisioned. It doesn't need to integrate with Outlook, but that wouldn't be bad--outputting Tasks (Next Actions), and Calendar Events. The final wish list would be a CCPM (Critical Chain Project Management) algorithm that "schedules" the projects next action, indicates resource contention and can toggle between backward scheduling and forward scheduling.

Post Affiliate Pro connector integration with Magento

I am running Magento ver. 1.3.2.4 and I can't upgrade because it will no longer be compatible with something else (yet)

When I install this latest version of the Post Affilate Pro connector - I get horrible errors and of course now I realise that it might not be compatible with the Magento version I am running.

The error I get is:-

Fatal error: Class 'Gpf_Rpc_Form_Validator_FormValidatorCollection' not found in ........./pap_4/api/PapApi.class.php on line 1851

Any thoughts?

Selecting Toodledo

I just wanted to start my TRO Online Training and was promted to select the tools I use.

My problem is: I am using Toodledo as an Tasklist and there is no entry for that.
I was selecting Toodledo for my tasklist based on the GTD Software Comparison Chart here. One of my points for the decision was that there should training available.
But where? What should I select? The listed tools are all out of question for me. For different reasons.
Any help on this one?

Weekly review settings in Remember The Milk

Hi everybody! I'm using Gmail for mail and calendar and Remember the
milk for my lists. I´m on my 7th accountability day and when it comes to
the explanation about what I have to see in my Weekly Review list it
says: "Tasks
with Due Dates (“hard” dates) do not appear here." In my Online TRaining System the config for that smart list (in RTM) is:

isTagged:true
AND (priority:1 OR priority:2 OR priority:3) AND (status:incomplete) NOT tag:sm
NOT tag:templates

Therefore, that list shows tasks with due dates (HARD dates).... I
discovered that if I add this parameter in the smartlist config, Due
dates does not show up:

AND due:never

So I changed the parameters of my Weekly Review smart list to:

isTagged:true
AND (priority:1 OR priority:2 OR priority:3) AND (status:incomplete) NOT tag:sm
NOT tag:templates AND due:never

Is
this a valid configuration?? It happens too in my Daily Review list (It
shows Due Dates before I add the last parameter). Thanks in advance :)

Trog freezes on loading

Trog Bar has stopped working on two of my machines. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software but it hangs on loading. I have downloaded the latest version. I've logged the error reports but am at a loss what to do. Outlook 2010 Windows 7 Professional 64bit and 32bit. Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Fortunately it is still running on my work PC.

Email Based Tasks - Road Warrior

I'm a "road warrior", I have no set office for more than a short period of time. Therefore, most of my tasks are the result of emails.

I'm struggling with dealing with multiple emails for the same Project - Tasks. It hard to set my next step when I have several emails on the same subject.

Even though I have several emails, should I combine them into one task in Outlook/RTM? Or just one task in RTM, to allow me to respond in Outlook? The other idea I had was to enter them as Project - Next Step - Date Email Received.

I use Outlook, Remember the Milk and RTM on IPhone.

TROG Bar Auto Save

So the online training has us get a big box, dump stuff in there as we are sweeping out the old in preparation for the new. However, I don't really have much paper. Most of my clutter is online, old failed organizing systems, random folders, perhaps a lurking sharepoint site or two. So I haven't really seen any direction yet on getting the online junk organized. Hard to dump all that stuff in a box somewhere.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Am definitely interested in the Priacta version of GTD. I am looking at the online training to start but I don't know what tools would best suite me. I'd be starting pretty much from scratch as my current task organizing is haphazard.

Would be interested in having a system that is (at best but not mandatory) accessible from 2 computers -- a laptop running Win 7 (this has the priority if a choice must be made between the 2 computers) & a desktop running Win XP.

Both computers have Outlook '07 that I'd like to start using. In addition I have an old (basic) Palm that I believe I can still use -- the desktop of which I can access from the XP version. I have limitedly used & liked the Palm desktop. I'm not sure if it makes sense to try to use that or not.

Another piece that I am guessing probably will not be able to be integrated -- I use Xmind mindmapping to brainstorm, organize, etc. (I believe there is an add-on that lets it communicate with Outlook.)

As far as paper, I do "think" a lot better with a pen in my hand than a keyboard -- at least with brainstorming, etc. I also process things better in written form -- I'll print out important or complicated things to read them rather than reading online. I do however enjoy the convenience of an electronic calendar, to-do list, etc.

As I am not at all far into this, I can change my software, the Palm, etc -- is there anything anyone'd recommend?

I'd be very interested in any suggestions and /or insights.

Getting Started: Stuck on tools

I want to get started with the training but am stuck on tools. I am on a mac, I use gmail so that's set. My main calendar is ical, so I'm guessing I can use google calendar for the TRO training since I sync them. Where I'm really stuck is tasks. I have a copy of Thinking Rock, but it seems to get bogged down easily so I want to change to something else. I'm between EasyTask Manager and Things. I like the price of EasyTask better, Things is a little high. But I see that there are instructions for applying TRO with Things, and not with EasyTask. So two questions; does anyone know if Things is really that much better than EasyTask (i.e. over double the price better), and would I be able to follow the training easily if I choose EasyTask, and if so what tool should I pick for the training?

If it helps, basically I'm a new small (as in tiny) business owner (coaching) trying to figure out how to get things under control so I don't feel overwhelmed and so I can keep moving ahead as I would like to.

Nozbe vs RTM

I'm just starting TRO online training. I already have a Nozbe account.

I set up training with RTM as instructed and noted the modifications to use Nozbe instead.

I am not completely opposed to changing to RTM, but would prefer not to change. With the few modification noted in the TRO instruction, will I really be just as productive with Nozbe?

TRO is already a change from the basic GTD process I have used. I'm not sure I want to add learning RTM on top of that.

TRO Training using Chromatic Dragon, Outlook and Toodledo

I use Outlook for my training and I use Toodledo/Chromatic Dragon for sync on my Iphone/Ipad.

I have different option to sync between Toodledo and Dragon. Which option do you recommend ?

1 - Map Outlook categories with Toodledo Contexts

2- Map Outlook categories with Toodledo Folders

And do I choose the option in Toodledo to create Contexts and Folders accordingly.

Weekly Review Shows Only Unprocessed Tasks

I cannot figure out what is going on with Trog bar and the weekly review. I am only seeing unprocessed tasks in my weekly review. I attached the options in this message. However, I changed some of the options but I still get the same results. I have the outlook notification task option off. I am using windows 7 64 bit but outlook 2010 is 32 bit. I also deleted some of the do on dates from of the task but I still get the same results. I feel that I have to have do on dates on all of my tasks because if I do not they will fall through the cracks even though that is not what is recommended by tro training.

Error after install, no default mail client.

I have just installed your trial product to give it a test.

When I go to run it, it comes up with the error "no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request", see the attached screen shot for the error.

I currently have Microsoft Outlook 2010 installed, and this is the only email client, it is also the default email client as well. It is connected to an Exchange server locally, if that is any help.

Do you have any thoughts about how I can fix this, or something I can check to resolve this problem.
