When asked, tell Trog to manage emails. DON'T choose the option to manage "All emails in the folders I selected" unless you specifically move actionable emails into the folders you selected. (Why? With this option, every email in these folders will be treated as actionable tasks until you mark them as complete.)

You can select your Inbox as the place to manage emails, but if you do, you better have a way of distinguishing emails that need action from emails that don't need action. (Otherwise, all your Inbox emails will look like actionable tasks to Trog.)

Options for designating actionable emails in your Inbox:

1) Most people leave actionable emails as Unread to show that they still need to do something with them. You can choose that option in the interview. However, you run the risk of dropping actions this way because Outlook will mark the email as unread when you open it. This approach is not recommended.

2) A better approach is to choose the option "I have a system for marking emails that I need to manage." You then explain your system on the next screen. It's best to use a system that requires you to specifically take action to designate an email as actionable or not, so nothing accidentally slips through the cracks.

For example, if you choose "Has any of these flags" to indicate that an email is actionable, then no emails will appear in Trog Bar until you specifically flag them with the right flag. You can triage/read you email in Outlook and flag any emails that are tasks, and Trog Bar will manage them like tasks automatically.

If you choose that option, I recommend setting up your Inbox view to group all unflagged tasks at the top (your new, incoming emails), and all flagged tasks beneath. Do this by right-clicking the header above any column in the Inbox and choosing "Customize Current View..."

How do you "flag" actionable tasks in Outlook? In Outlook 2003 you right click it, select Follow Up > and choose a flag color.

I'm going to try to uninstall, clean out my registry, and try again. One thing odd was that in my unassigned/unprocessed tasks, I also see a list of what seems to be every entry in my address book. That's a bit of a problem since this creates roughly 1000  "tasks" more than I have based on the emails in my [Action] folder.

When I get a reminder pop up and I click dismiss, then do NOT do that task, meaning I did not mark it as complete (or delete) in the TROG bar, will it still remind me the next day?
 
 
What is the difference between Today task list and Task now? I guess when I look at the Today tasks there’s something I feel a bit nervous that the program is not showing me something that I do need to do today. So I guess the faith in me entering the tasks correctly and the issues we seemed to have yesterday are lurking in my mind. You mentioned one of the “bugs” was not a bug but it was the “way we were looking at it”. PS. My previous emails have been half addressed after I read chapter 15 and 16. My major concern is that I may not be entering the tasks correctly so that the tasknow works to my advantage.
