How do you do TRO with Wrike?
-
I have just discovered Wrike which works *very* well for the collaboration part of my business -- but I'm missing my TRO [TRO: GTD-compatible system w/Covey principles] (was using Toodledo -which didn't work with my clients so well). According to your review Wrike works. for TRO (I can have my cake and eat it too...)
So.. what adaptations do I need to make?
Thanks!

Meredithe,
Thank you for your question and your patience over the Christmas holiday.Wrike is a good tool, one we've been eyeing for a while now. It is possible to do the TRO Online Training with Wrike. For others looking at this thread, here is my personal review of Wrike, from a coach's perspective:Coach's Review of Wrike
Pros: Real collaboration. Deep email integration. Team discussion and accountability support, including notification when tasks are completed. Anywhere access via the web.Cons: High price tag. No Android or tablet (iPad or Android) apps. Team members must be paid users, leaving "fringe" members of the team outside your system. Confusing user interface: simply figuring out how to add projects is a chore. Non-customizable task options force you to use the Wrike system or implement kluges. Most notably, tasks require a due date, leaving you no option but to set one.Overall, I'm not actively recommending Wrike at the moment. The fact that you can only collaborate with paying users leaves your team in a bubble, unable to interact with the wider world. The lack of Android and iPad apps is also killer. However, if your team is using (or will be using) Wrike, I do have TRO recommendations for you:TRO with Wrike
You can get started using TRO with Wrike by following these guidelines:Hard date = due date Someday/maybe = set task as backloggedDo today = high priorityYou'll need to set up all your contexts (folders) before you can process, because you cannot add new contexts on the fly.For your daily review, look at all tasks with a DUE DATE of today or earlier. Any tasks you must do today, change to high priority. For your weekly review, look through your major context folders: (Work), (Home), (Personal), etc. (Wrike will not allow you to create an adequate filter to do this automatically). Once per month, you'll need to plan extra time during your weekly review to commute the extra due dates (for incomplete soft-date-only tasks) to the next month. Or delete the tasks.Learn to use the filters in the folders view. Do tasks in this order:- In the TRO training Select Donedesk as your task manager. It is most similar to Wrike in behavior, so it will provide a somewhat similar training experience. (You could also select "other task manager" to see more general instructions.)
- View the tutorials on this page to become familiar with using Wrike: http://www.wrike.com/demo-video-tutorials.jsp#overview
- Remember (or print) this list of jargon terms, which will help you use Wrike with TRO:
- Context = folders; All contexts (major, minor, project) are handled as folders. You can assign multiple folders for every task. Name them as you would tags in Donedesk.
- Soft date = start date
- Wrike will not let you set a start date without a due date. If you wish to set a task with a start date and no due date (recommended), set the due date for the last day of the month or the day you would do a weekly review. All tasks with no hard date will come "due" on that date.
- Calendar appointments
- High priority (do today) tasks
- Tasks, sorted by start date.
- S/M tasks (backlog)
For Different TRO Views:1. List of tasks per context is brought up by clicking on one of the folders listed at the left side of the screen.2. Different TRO Views appear as separate Widgets when in the "Dashboard" view.3. Unprocessed Task List: This are tasks listed when the "My Folders" tab is clicked. These instructions should get you pointed in the right direction.Share your experience
If you are doing TRO with Wrike, please share your experiences and insights below. This will help other users and becomes the basis of a future Wrike training in TRO Online.~Coach Nate
